ALBANY, N.Y., May 18 /PRNewswire/ — TWEC.COM (http://www.twec.com), the
e-commerce site of leading entertainment products retailer Trans World
Entertainment Corporation (Nasdaq: TWMC), announced today its exciting
lineup of events for the week of 5/22. The Web’s Entertainment Center will
hold live online chats with Lucy Pearl, Necro, Jules Shear, Tish Hinojosa,
Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Ronnie McCoury. In addition, the RadioWoodstock
On Stage series continues when TWEC.COM broadcasts a taped audio concert
starring the Pushstars. Details for each event are as follows:
MONDAY 5/22
* The RadioWoodstock On Stage series continues this week with a broadcast of an audio concert starring Pushstars. The Boston-based band released their first album in 1996, and had a track on the soundtrack for the 1997 comedy smash "There's Something About Mary." The Pushstars' major-label debut, After The Party, was released in 1999. The concert with this talented pop/rock band airs at the following times: Monday 5/22 at 4:00 PM EDT, Wednesday 5/24 at 11:00 AM EDT, Saturday 5/27 at 3:00 AM EDT and Sunday 5/28 at 7:00 PM EDT. * Log on to TWEC.COM at 8:00 PM EDT on Monday and chat live with Lucy Pearl. While Lucy Pearl is a new band whose self-titled debut album hits stores on Tuesday 5/23, its members are established performers who have experienced success in the music world for years. Lucy Pearl was formed in the summer of 1999 and is comprised of Tony! Toni! Tone's Raphael Saadiq, DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad from A Tribe Called Quest, and gifted vocalist Dawn Robinson, formerly of En Vogue. * Following the chat with Lucy Pearl, join TWEC.COM for a live chat with hardcore hip-hop performer Necro. This multi-talented rapper is not only a skilled lyricist, but he has also directed movies and is CEO of his own record label, PSYCHO+LOGICAL-Records, on which he produces all the music. His lyrics are brutal and his beats are hard, and he has also directed two short films that have made their way through the underground Hip-Hop scene.
TUESDAY 5/23
* At 8:00 PM EDT, join us as TWEC.COM chats with acclaimed singer/songwriter Jules Shear. In addition to recording several exceptional albums of his own, Shear has written notable hits for other performers, including Cyndi Lauper's "All Through The Night" and the Bangles' "If She Knew What She Wants." Shear was also the founder and original host of the popular MTV series "MTV Unplugged." His latest album, Allow Me, was released last month. * Tuesday's events continue at 9:00 PM EDT when TWEC.COM hosts a live chat with Tish Hinojosa. Hinojosa is a gifted Latino singer/songwriter with four albums and one EP behind her. Her albums are tapestries of folk, country, pop, and Hispanic idioms, eliminating the boundaries between cultures, languages and musical genres. Hinojosa's new CD, Sign of Truth, hits stores on Tuesday 5/23. * Concluding the evening's events at TWEC.COM is a live chat with the unique Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra unites the talents of a 60-piece orchestra and chorus with the gifts of veteran hard rock producer Paul O'Neill. The group's debut album, Christmas Eve and Other Stories, was released during the 1996 holiday season. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra has since released two more albums, with their most recent album, Beethoven's Last Night, hitting stores in April.
WEDNESDAY 5/24
* At 8:00 PM EDT, chat live with bluegrass artist Ronnie McCoury. McCoury is a strong singer who is poised to carry bluegrass music into the new millennium. Along with his brother Rob, he is following in the footsteps of his father Del McCoury in expanding the scope of bluegrass. McCoury's debut solo album, Heartbreak Town, was released at the beginning of May.
