ALBANY, N.Y., March 30 /PRNewswire/ — TWEC.COM (http://www.twec.com), the
e-commerce site of leading entertainment products retailer Trans World
Entertainment Corporation (Nasdaq: TWMC), announced today its events for the
week of April 3, 2000. The RadioWoodstock On Stage series continues this week
with an audio broadcast of a concert starring popular singer/songwriter Jewel.
Joining TWEC.COM for live chats this week include Slaid Cleaves, Uranium 235,
Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Michelle Tumes and Dr. Demento. In addition, TWEC.COM
will air a live webcast with Galactic, in conjunction with iCON Broadcasting.

MONDAY 4/3

  • The RadioWoodstock On Stage series continues this week as TWEC.COM
broadcasts a taped audio concert starring Jewel. Jewel was living in a
1969 Volkswagen Bus when she got a weekly gig at a LA coffeehouse. Though
her first shows were sparsely attended, it wasn’t long before her unique
and beautiful voice attracted attention from fans and record executives
alike. Jewel’s most recent album, Spirit, was released in late 1999. The
concert starring this talented singer airs at the following times: Monday
4/3 at 4:00 PM EDT, Wednesday 4/5 at 11:00 AM EDT, Saturday 4/8 at 3:00 AM
EDT and Sunday 4/9 at 7:00 PM EDT.

  • At 8:00 PM EDT, TWEC.COM will host a live chat with singer/songwriter/guitarist Slaid Cleaves. His music is deeply rooted in country and traditional folk sounds, but it has a quirky and unique side to it that enables him to stand out in the music world. His 1997 debut, No Angel Knows, found itself being played on many Americana-esque radio stations across the US and Canada.

TUESDAY 4/4

  • At 6:00 PM EDT, be sure to tune in to TWEC.COM and chat live with
Uranium 235. Known for their ability to combine a strong techno/dance
groove with heavy guitar riffs, Uranium 235 has been compared to such
bands as Depeche Mode, Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. Their debut album,
Cultural Minority, is a surprisingly eclectic package that highlights the
diverse, changeable music styles that they present.

  • At 8:00 PM EDT, chat live with Jimmie Dale Gilmore. Gilmore’s special
blend of folk music combines country, folk, blues and rock styles,
appealing to a variety of people everywhere. Many people consider Gilmore
to be the true representative of the Austin (TX) music scene, since his
music so purely embodies the rootsy mix of music that Austin is known for.
His latest album, One Endless Night, was released at the beginning of this
    year.

THURSDAY 4/6

  • At 8:00 PM EDT, join TWEC.COM for a live chat with Michelle Tumes.
Tumes is a gifted CCM singer/songwriter who has studied piano since she
was four years old. Her family was so certain that she would be a success
that her younger sister gave her $40 that she had saved from her paper
route so that Tumes would cut a demo. Soon afterwards, she landed a
songwriting deal with a publishing company and began writing songs for
other artists, eventually deciding to pursue her own solo career. Her
latest album, Center of My Universe, was released in February 2000.

  • Following the chat with Michelle Tumes, stick around at TWEC.COM for
live chat with Dr. Demento. For 30 years, Dr. Demento has been making
people laugh with his weekly two-hour radio show, described as “a
free-wheeling, unpredictable mix of music and comedies.” Dr. Demento is
known for playing entertaining and funny songs by both new and established
artists and comedians, and he has helped launch the careers of numerous
up-and-coming performers, including “Weird Al” Yankovic. The chat with
this legendary comedian takes place at 9:00 PM EDT.

SATURDAY 4/8

  • At 8:00 PM EDT, tune in to TWEC.COM for a live webcast with jazz-funk
band Galactic. Formed in New Orleans in 1994, Galactic developed a strong
and dedicated following with their relentless schedule of live
performances in which they opened for notable bands including the Meters,
Maceo Parker and Medeski, Martin and Wood. Galactic issued their debut
album, Cooling Off, in 1996, re-releasing it two years later after signing
to Capricorn Records. Their latest album, Late for the Future, is set for
    release on Tuesday 4/4.
