The RadioWoodstock On Stage series continues this week as TWEC.COM
broadcasts a taped audio concert starring Babe the Blue Ox. Formed in
1991, Babe the Blue Ox is known for their unique spin on indie rock,
combining jazz, rock and punk to create strange and eclectic pop songs.
Their first major-label album, People, was released in 1996. The
concert with this talented band will air at the following times: Monday
3/13 at 4:00 PM EST, Wednesday 3/15 at 11:00 AM EST, Saturday 3/18 at
3:00 AM EST and Sunday 3/19 at 7:00 PM EST.
At 8:00 PM EST, The Web’s Entertainment Center will host a live chat
with up-and-coming young star Sammie. Billed as the next Stevie
Wonder, Sammie is a talented 12-year-old singer who stole America’s
hearts with his winning performance on Showtime at the Apollo in the
spring of 1998. His debut album, From the Bottom to the Top, hits
stores on Tuesday, March 13. Everyone who orders Sammie’s new album
during the chat will receive free shipping on their order.
At 10:00 PM EST, TWEC.COM will host a live chat with rappers Drag-On,
as the SOHH.com Online Hip-Hop Awards Artist Series continues.
Drag-On’s debut album, Opposite of H2O, is set for release on 3/28, but
he is no stranger to hip-hop fans. Drag-On has previously been heard
on both of DMX’s platinum albums, Ruff Ryders’ Ryde or Die, Vol. 1, DJ
Clue’s The Professional, and many other compilations and soundtracks.
At 8:00 PM EST, join TWEC.COM for a live chat with singer/songwriter
Ellis Paul. In 1994, Ellis Paul won the New Folk competition at the
Kerrville (TX) Folk Festival. Since then, he has received 10 Boston
Music Awards, and was heralded by the Boston Globe as “a national folk
star and to many the quintessential Boston songwriter: literate,
provocative, urbanely romantic.” Ellis has basically toured and
written non-stop since 1994, and has received awards and accolades from
a variety of sources. His new album, Live, is a 2-CD set that is set
for release on Tuesday, March 14.
Following the chat with Ellis Paul, The Web’s Entertainment Center will
host a live chat with gifted stand-up bassist Lee Rocker. Lee and his
Long Island schoolmates Brian Setzer and Slim Jim Phantom formed the
popular Rockabilly band the Stray Cats in 1979. After a brilliant rise
to the top of the charts in the UK and USA, the Stray Cats disbanded in
1983, with a revival from 1986-1992. Following the final breakup of the
Stray Cats, Rocker pursued a solo career, releasing Big Blue in 1994.
Lee has since released three more new albums, most recently in 1999
with Lee Rocker Live. The chat with Lee Rocker begins at 9:00 PM EST.
At 9:00 PM EST, TWEC.COM will chat live with Armored Saint. Armored
Saint is probably one of the most underrated heavy metal bands of the
1980s. Throughout that decade, Armored Saint experienced unbelievable
success with their live shows throughout the US and Europe. After the
death of one of their members, guitarist Dave Prichard, in 1990,
Armored Saint disbanded. Shortly thereafter, they reformed to attempt
to finish what they had started. The band’s latest album, Revelation,
was released on 3/7.
At 9:00 PM EST, The Web’s Entertainment Center will chat live with
legendary funk band Con Funk Shun, with Michael Cooper. Con Funk Shun
was one of the most popular and appreciated party-funk bands of their
time. In the early 1980s, the band started getting national
recognition for their ballads and their instrumental tracks. In
addition to performing on their albums, the members of Con Funk Shun
were involved in the entire process, including writing, arranging and
producing. Twenty-plus years after breaking in to the music business,
Con Funk Shun continues to perform at festivals and concerts worldwide.
